This hot air balloon will be a hit with any girl whether she uses it as a new bedroom decoration that hangs from the ceiling, giving the room a new dimension or she uses it as a toy to imagine new worlds. It is sure to be the talk of her friends! It showcases the Kimono Cuties by Claudette Barjoud #80043 embroidery design collection from OESD, which is full of appliqué and even a few stitch ‘n’ turn dolls. It is fun and darling!
It was made with a variety of items, including a white paper lantern, ribbon, dowel sticks, small cardboard box, tulle or netting, glue, fabrics, fiberfill, and Kimono Cuties by Claudette Barjoud #80043 embroidery design collection. Several designs were used from this fun appliqué embroidery collection. There are basic instructions with this collection for making the stitch ‘n’ turn appliqué dolls and the appliqué designs. Use your creative juices and a few simple tips to make your own hot air balloon room decoration.
The Kimono Cutie Appliqué Clouds #80043-07 design was chosen to be stitched on tulle or netting and then glued onto the top of the white paper lantern. We used 3 clouds on ours. It is the perfect design to use for the top of the hot air balloon. The Kimono Cutie Appliqué Fan and Flowers #80043-11 design was stitched on tulle or netting and also glued onto the bottom of the white paper lantern. Two of the fan and flowers designs were used on ours. This is an easy way to add embroidery designs to paper items or other places where the designs cannot be stitched onto the item.
Kimono Cuties #80043 collection features 3 stitch ‘n’ turn appliqué dolls. There are two appliqué girls and one appliqué kitten. So they are not just dimensional dolls stuffed with fiberfill, but also an appliqué stitched on a neutral fabric and then using different colors of fabrics. Add dimensional fabric or felt flowers as accessories. We made one of each of the stitch ‘n’ turn appliqué dolls to add to our basket of the hot air balloon.
The Kimono Cutie Appliqué Corner #80043-09 design, Kimono Cutie Appliqué Dog 2 #80043-14, and the Kimono Cutie Appliqué Sumo Wrestler #80043-19 were stitched out on a pink fabric and glued to the small cardboard box for the bottom of the hot air balloon. The dowel sticks were wrapped with ribbon and glued to the insides of the cardboard box. Holes were made in the bottom of the paper lantern and the dowel sticks were pushed into those holes and glued. Ribbons were wrapped around the paper lantern and tied to the dowel sticks to form the hot air balloon.
Once you have everything glued in place and it is dry, you can hang it in as a bedroom decoration. Hang it low enough so the little girl can reach the appliqué dolls out of the basket to play with.
