Wedding season is here and I have a couple to go to this Summer. I saw this Wedding Day embroidery collection from Embroidery Online and thought it would make a great gift bag for a future bride. My Mother-in-law is getting married in July and I wanted to make her a bag she could bring on her beach trip honeymoon. You can also frame these for a lovely keepsake. My son is the ring-bearer so I will be using this for the little pillow as well. Get the details below and make your own.
Supplies
- OESD’s Wedding Day #12849
- OESD Medium Weight TearAway Stabilzer
- 1/2 yd. material for outside (I’m using an ivory cotton duck)
- 1/2 yd. for liner (I’m using a striped cotton duck with the wedding colors)
- 1/2 yd. medium to heavy wt stabilizer for the bag. You can even use a fusible fleece.
- Dritz Grommets for the handles
- Rope for the handles
Instructions
Cut fabric for outside and liner to 17″ x 20″
Hoop the stabilizer and embroider the fabric. I did the front and back with different designs.
Cut out 3 x 3″ corners on the bottom edges.
Press interfacing to the back of the main pieces.
Place right sides together and stitch sides and bottom. Repeat for liner.
Stitch the corners together to square off the bottom.
Place front and liner right sides together and stitch the top leaving a 4″ opening to flip right sides out.
Flip right side out.
Press liner inside, and top stitch all the way around the top edge closing up the opening.
Use grommets following the package instructions and 2-part tools. I did mine 6″ apart from the center.
Knot some rope through and you have the cutest keepsake bag. Perfect bag to add gifts and great for the pool or beach.
Great for framed and hope work as well.
